2 Mountain Climbs!  Up for the CHALLENGE ?!?
This event is capped at 75 riders.
The Forte Fondo distance takes participants along Bonhomme Street/Pine Street, then west on Connaught Drive. Athletes follow Connaught Drive onto the Icefields Parkway and then turn onto Hwy 93A.  Following 93A, cyclists turn right onto Marmot Road and climb to the lower base day-lodge at Marmot Basin.
Cyclists turnaround and return to Hwy 93A and continue heading south to make a right turn onto Edith Cavell Road.  Enjoy the climb to the top  – turning around at the Mount Edith Cavell Wilderness Hostel.  Take caution on the downhill stretches due to tight turns!  Once back on Hwy 93A, continue South to the intersection of Hwy 93A & Icefields Parkway. Cyclists turn right (south) and continue along the Icefields Parkway to the turnaround point at the staff complex at Poboktan Creek.
Cyclists return along the Icefields Parkway to Jasper and the finish area!* YOU MUST QUALIFY TO RIDE THE FORTE*In order to enter to ride the FORTE, you must qualify by meeting one or more of the following points.
This is a safety requirement and we will be firm on this.

  • Have completed a previous version of the Gran Fondo Jasper  (165k) in under 6 hours
  • Have completed a Gran Fondo (130km+) providing proof of an average time of 27km/h

You must also agree that:

  • If you cannot make it to the base of the second climb at Edith Cavell Road within 90minutes you will no be allowed to do the climb.

Entries are awarded on a first-come/first-serve basis. It is likely that this route option will sell out very fast.
Please understand that in our first year of offering this route we must keep the number of participants manageable.

*Parks Canada have the final say on allowing access to Edith Cavell Road.  If weather/wildlife/other items arise, the event will be revised down to the Gran Fondo Distance.
